Sharks, Skates, and Rays: No Bones About It*
Unlike 97 percent of the fishes in the world, sharks, skates, and rays have a skeletal system made up of cartilage instead of bone. In this three-part series, you'll learn about the specific orders, their evolution, reproductive strategies, and behavior. Aquarium observations will help illustrate the vital role these "boneless" fishes play in their environment.

Saturdays, March 24, 31 and April 7, 8 a.m.-noon
Fee: $120 ($100 members)

Aquatic Botany Field Class*
Join the experts from Shedd Aquarium and Cook County Forest Preserves District and get your feet wet exploring aquatic plants at Camp Sagawau. Spend time in the "wet" classroom and participate in actual local research. Compare and contrast freshwater aquatic plants to marine species.

Saturday, May 19 and Sunday, May 20, 8 a.m.-2 p.m.
Fee: $120 ($100 members)

Wildlife on the Prowl*
Have you ever wondered why killer whales are nicknamed the "wolves of the sea"? Are they similar to terrestrial wolves? Discover the social structure and hunting strategies of these two predators. At the same time, learn different behavioral research methods and use them to prepare your own behavioral studies of dolphins and wolves. The first class will meet at Shedd Aquarium. The second weekend we will camp at Wolf Park in Battleground, Indiana. Transportation to Wolf Park and snacks will be provided. Register early; space is limited.
