Amazon Rising: Seasons of the River

	Immerse your class in a journey to the most mysterious and diverse habitat on Earth as well as the world's largest freshwater river system. 	Fishes Discovery Box Grades K-8 Our most recent addition to our discovery box collection, this kit demonstrates the diversity of fishes by including several animal specimens such as a seahorse, a shark jaw, a skate and a pufferfish. 3-5 Grade

	Amazon Adaptations 45 Minutes Class Size 20-40 What do household tools have to do with animals of the Amazon? In this exciting hands-on class, your group will explore a variety of Amazon animals. Students will make connections between tools and the adaptations of Amazon animals as they generate questions and draw conclusions about feeding strategies. 3-5 Grade Auditorium

	Voices of the Amazon 45 Minutes Class size 100-250 There are many differences in opinion and views when considering the Amazon, or Amazonia as it is more commonly called. Which ones should take precedence? In helping Amazonia choose a "voice" to represent itself, the students will discover that to fully understand and appreciate the Amazon, different and varied viewpoints must be taken into consideration. 6-8 Grade

	Rise and Fall of the Flooded Forest 45 Minutes Class Size 20-40 Mysteries await your group as they step into the awe-inspiring Amazon. Students will use scientific inquiry and cooperative learning to uncover the secrets of this biologically diverse ecosystem. Amazon Teacher Trip

	This summer will be one to remember for a group of Illinois teachers. They will be joining Shedd Aquarium staff for an encore to last year's phenomenal educators-only, nine-day excursion to the Amazon, a land of striking contrasts and lush biodiversity! Check back in August to read about the teachers' experiences. This trip is planned in collaboration with International Expeditions, a world travel company specializing in trips to the Amazon.
