Thank you for your interest in Shedd Aquarium for after-hours private events. The following guidelines, policies and procedures help govern the use of the Aquarium for evening events.
|
|
Events cannot create any hazard or undue hardship to the Aquarium and its collections, exhibits, facilities, staff, or visitors.
Events must comply with established Aquarium regulations for use of the facilities. Such use must not conflict with any existing Aquarium policy.
All costs associated with an event will be the responsibility of the sponsoring organization.
The Aquarium facilities are not available for any of the following:
- political meetings or events
- religious meetings or events or religious ceremonies.
A visit to the Oceanarium must be scheduled at the beginning of the event and may not exceed one hour. All visits to the Oceanarium must end by 8 p.m. due to the rest and privacy required by our marine mammals.
Marine mammal behavioral presentations are not available for evening events.
Flowers and decorations must comply with all Chicago fire codes. We do not permit helium-filled balloons in the building, nor do we permit live animals in the building due to concerns for the health of our aquatic animals.
Music is only permitted in the Aquarium's main foyer and restaurants. We have restrictions regarding the size of musical groups due to the aquatic animals' sensitivity to music. (Please contact us for further details.)
Flash photography is only permitted in the Oceanarium, restaurant and the Aquarium's main foyer. We must maintain specific light restrictions in the Aquarium's exhibits due to our aquatic animals' sensitivity to light.
The Aquarium is a nonsmoking facility in compliance with Chicago fire and building codes.
Deliveries must be arranged in advance. Any equipment must be delivered the evening of the event and removed immediately following the event.
All promotional copy, guest invitations and printed materials must be submitted to the Aquarium for review and approval before being printed. top |
